My Baby Is Growing Up! DJ decided last night that he wanted to do his homework all by himself. He didn't want me in the kitchen with him while he did it. I didn't think this would happen until sometime next year or the year after. I mean, he's only in kindergarten and he's already so independent. I loved homework time with him. I'm hoping this doesn't happen every night! I must say I was impressed though. He had a word search worksheet. About 20 words he had to find. He was finished in under 5 minutes and they were all correct. I'm so proud of my baby. He also made sure the circles and the spelling of his name were neat. These times are flying by so fast! I try to videotape at least once a week. First of all I want to see his progress as he grows. Second, I don't want to forget the funny things he says, the funny things he does, the way he says certain words. His big thing is “come and keep me company”. Only he doesn't say company, he says contaby. There aren't many words he mispronounces and that's one of them. I think it's so funny to hear him say it. It's ironic that the majority of the funny things he does and says I can never capture on film. It's like he knows. Yesterday he learned in school all about fires. He came home and proceeded to give me a crash course on what happens if there is a fire in our house. He told me he had to wake me and his pop-pop up and then we all had to run outside, “even if we're in our pajamas, Mom!” Then we have to call the fire guys and throw lots of water on the fire and it will be all done. Oh, and we can't forget the family cat, Precious. It was priceless, and not taped. He started mentioning something about a science project that was NOT in his homework book. He told me they had to bring an animal to school (this could be just wishful thinking on my son's part.) I asked him if he had to make an animal and bring it to school. He adamantly shook his head and said no, they had to bring an animal to school. I asked him if he was going to bring in Precious. He then proceeded to tell me he was bringing Precious AND a tiger into school. He explained to me that tigers live in the zoo and the jungle but they can be had as pets. I told him he's more than welcome to have a tiger when he gets alot bigger and he has his own house. He said it was ok since the tiger could sleep with Precious. Um, nope, Precious sleeps in my bed and I can tell you right now a tiger is not sleeping in my bed. DJ thought that was just too funny. On Saturday, we have birthday party for my cousin's son. DJ is all excited about going. My mom told me she wanted DJ to spend the night at her house after the party. He hasn't stayed there in a few months so I said it was ok. She originally wanted him a few weeks ago the night before Mother's Day. I wasn't giving him up that night :) He called her last night on the phone and she asked him what he wanted for breakfast. Pop Tarts was his response. No surprise there. After a few minutes more of conversation he turned the phone over to me. My mom and I chatted for a few minutes and she asked me what kind of Pop Tarts he wanted. I asked him and he replied with “sweet and fresh.” Like I've ever bought him stale Pop Tarts! by lilhoneypa at 08:16 am
