Interactive Blogging Ladies and Gentleman of the blogging world, I need YOUR help!!!!!!!!! Here's the scoop: I have a term paper to write for my Government final. The information for this final needs to come from YOU. YOUR opinions, YOUR thoughts, and YOUR feelings. Seriously. The catch is I have to have people from all different demograpics answer these questions. You can answer as many or as little as you want. You can send me your answers via email. If you want (ONLY if you want, I will post your answers on my site with a link to your blog...or not.) Whichever you prefer. Demographic Info I need: First name (make one up if you want), a working email address, location, age group, and ethnicity. And, of course, your answers! There is NO WRONG ANSWER! Seriously, it's all about opinion! This does include people who live outside of the United States. YOUR opinion counts as well!!!!! Ready, Set, Go!!!!!! 1. What does the word “democracy” mean? 2. What is the governmental structure of a democracy? 3. What are the strengths and weaknesses of a democratic government? 4. Is the American government democratic? Why or why not? 5. What are the basic values and principles of American democracy? 7. What are some important beliefs Americans have about themselves and their government? 8. Do you feel the reality of a today’s democratic society is what our Founding Fathers had in mind when constructing our government? 9. Do you think a government could function without bureaucracy? Why or why not? 10. Is the concept of representative government a farce in the United States? 11. Compared to other countries around the world, do you feel our government is one of the best around? 12. What issues do you consider should be top priority in today’s government? Do you feel our government is addressing those issues? 13. Do you consider yourself active in politics? 14. Do you consider yourself an informed voter? 15. If voting is essential to the democratic process, why isn't it mandatory? THANK YOU! Monday, December 06, 2004
Pulling One Over Mommy's Eyes Now that DJ has started 1st grade, he gets more homework (naturally). His teacher started to give him written tests as well. He's given a list of spelling words each week to memorize and usually gets tested on Friday. DJ is REALLY good at trying to figure out. He's excellent with consonants, not so good with vowels. As the weeks progress, so do the level of words given. His teacher and I talked. Did I mention DJ is in an Asperger support classroom? He's in the class with 6 other children (K-2), and all lesson plans are individualized according to the student and his IEP. DJ was having a bit of a hard time (besides the fact he doesn't want to take the extra 5-10 minutes a night to go over them with me.) He passes each week but I know he can do SO much better. When his teacher and I talked, we decided to start testing him on Mondays. This way he has Monday through Monday to study. I came up with an even better idea. I can't believe I'm even entertaining the thought! DJ's biggest obsession is electronics. For those of you understaning Aspie kids, they're big on obsessions (complete and total obsession). Electronics including television, VCR, DVD, computer, video games, etc, etc. This consumes his life. When is the next time he can watch TV, or play the gamecube? These are the all important questions in our house. He wants to do absolutely NOTHING else. Anyway, that's another problem, lol. He loves to watch home movies. I decided we would take his spelling words, go over them one night, and I would videotape it. This way he can watch himself (he's so narcisstic!) over and over and over again. My darling little boy memorized EVERY SINGLE LINE from Shrek 2 after watching it 2 times. Spelling words should be a breeze! Note: Aspies are very visual as well. As it stands in the house right now, he is not allowed to watch tv on school nights but is allowed to play video games. I know that makes no sense to some people. His teacher and I talked it out and we realized the video games are showing DJ major problem solving skills. He needs help in this area. So as of now, he's allowed 1 hour per night on the video games. Since we're doing this spelling thing, I'll let him watch the tape 1/2 hour a night. He'll think he's pulling something over on me, trust me! Via Google Search While I do appreciate all the hits to my site, I should let you know you are not going to find "sex with sister-in-law" here. I don't have a sister-in-law. I don't even have a brother. Come to think of it, I'm an only child. Nor are you going to find "my mommy nude." Ewwwww, who actually does this? I'm not even talking to my "mommy", so you're shit out of luck, pal. I really don't want to sound ungrateful, but move on, PERVERTS! Sunday, December 05, 2004
Painted the Town Red!!! During dinner tonight, Pops turns to me and says, "You and PIC should go out tonight. I'll stay home with DJ." Wow! You don't have to tell me twice. Called PIC. Arranged to meet out front around 8ish. Then I showered, got dressed, put on a little lip gloss, grabbed my coat and keys and raced out front for our rendezvous. Headed over to the local supermarket to do our weekly shopping. That's right, folks. Lock your doors. Close your blinds. Keep your men in the house. We are some WILD chicks. Friday, December 03, 2004
Why? Most days, I forget DJ has Asperger's. I don't know if it's because I've just dealt with it for so long. Maybe it's because it's just the two of us. Or it could be because I just love him so much that I will myself to ignore the little inconsistencies and the uniqueness. Some days it's just so hard. Today is one of those days. I can't make it better. I can't make it go away. I can't overlook it. I can't pretend it doesn't exist. It's one of those days I feel helpless. I'm his mother, why can't I help him???? It started with a spider. A simple spider combined with bloodcurdling screams, over and over and over. He wouldn't stop screaming. The spider didn't touch him. I killed the spider. The screams continued. Non-stop. Why? He couldn't stop screaming long enough to tell me why he was screaming. Screaming combined with him running through out home with stinkies hanging out of his butt. Then the screams turned to whimpers and I hushed all his fears away. Then started up again in full force when I tried to maneuver him in the shower to clean his butt. I couldn't take it anymore. He had to go in his room. Then he just continuously screamed about that. I'm unfair. I'm evil. I'm mean. Now he is sleeping peacefully, looking like the sweetest cuddliest little boy you'd ever imagine. I'm left upset and drained. Searching the internet for more news. more interventions. I'm starting to second guess myself. Did I do the right thing? Did I miss an all important step? Sometimes, being a mommy really sucks. Let There Be Light! Last night, I was sitting in my nicely lit kitchen doing homework. All thanks to Mr. Big. I was doing some homework and chatting with PIC on the phone. POP!!!! I start looking around. What was that? Then I look up. Cracked glass from one end of my light fixture to the other. I started thinking, do I REALLY want to deal with this tonight. But then I start worrying about DJ in the morning. What happens if it shatters? I decided not to take the risk, of course. I gave management a call to send someone out to take the glass down for me. Remember, the short thing? I was really hopin they'd send out Cute Guy to take the glass down for me. Evidently he wasn't the one on call last night. Instead his friend showed up. I really did feel bad that I made him come over here at 10:00 at night. I felt even worse when he mentioned he just moved into one of the townhouses (from an apartment) with his wife and kids. We started debating with each other about when the light was going to get fixed, either last night or today. I wanted him to get back to his family and do it during normal work hours. I lost. Then again, I won. He didn't have the light fixture I had. They had to wait until today to put it together. Thursday, December 02, 2004
Sex Type Quiz Of course, this is from Dawn. Since she dared me... Copy this whole list into your journal / blog. 2. Bold OR capitalize the things that are true about you. 3. Whatever you don't bold is false. PART I 01. I've had sex in the past five minutes. PART II 1. I have, either currently or in the past, gone over a year without sex. Now I dare YOU to post it on your blog! Wednesday, December 01, 2004
Silly Fool Men really do amaze me. Mr Big came over tonight to fix my lightbulb. You need 6ft men to come over and do those sort of things when you're only 4'11. But, since when did "Can you come change my lightbulb" translate to "Let's get hot and naked and do it on the sink?" I did get my lightbulb fixed. He went home. I broke up with you for a reason. No, not the sex. The sex was banging. But you, you don't know the meaning of the word monogomous. But evidently you know the meaning of the word lightbulb. Bye bye.
